Overcoming · Decision · Resilience

Motivational talk by Pedro Queirós
INFINITY

Overcoming challenges, decision-making and resilience for teams working under pressure.

What drives someone to run 100 marathons in 100 days? Not to stop climbing when the body wants to give up at an altitude of 8,000 metres? To stay in Nepal after an earthquake, when everything said to go home?

"What's your Everest?" is a chronological journey through the life of Pedro Queirós, supported by over a thousand photographs. From the Nepal earthquake to the summit of Everest, from Iran to 100 marathons between Lisbon and Auschwitz, each story is a lesson about what we're capable of doing when we decide to act.

“When purpose finds us, we are unbeatable.”

On April 25, 2015, little Simran felt the earth shake in Nepal. She saw her village being destroyed in a matter of seconds, but she never lost hope. This book is part of the National Reading Plan in Portugal, and helps young people to reflect on the themes of volunteering, solidarity and what to do in the event of an earthquake.

In January 2017, Pedro Queirós unintentionally embarked on what would be his first Humanitarian Adventure: 1,200 kilometres on foot across India from the door of the Taj Mahal in Agra to the gates of Camp Hope in Kathmandu. A journey through the deepest roots of consciousness and ultimately, what defines the human being: pain, freedom and the desire to help others.

The courage to make a difference lies at the heart of being human. Portuguese Pedro Queirós and Lourenço Macedo Santos were caught up in the earthquake that destroyed Nepal on April 25, 2015, but instead of leaving the country, they decided to stay and help the people affected by the tragedy, in a mission on the ground that became known as Obrigado Portugal, nós também somos Nepal. This book, “Vocês voltam amanhã?”, has a foreword written by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres.
